Citizenship by birth

Citizenship of Lithuania is assigned to persons who were born on the territory of Lithuania (or outside of it), provided that at least one of the parents has Lithuanian citizenship.

Naturalization

Citizenship can be granted to a foreign resident who has been living in Lithuania for at least 10 years with a permanent residence permit. In addition, it is necessary to pass an exam for language knowledge and country’s laws, prove financial viability.
